"Resurrection Life Builds Communion"

A resurrected life builds many good and important values within God's people. For thousands of years, the church has continued a practice called 'Communion'. When we search for the meaning of it in the dictionary, we find the term communion means 'a close relationship with someone or an act of sharing.' Jesus Christ started the tradition of Communion. He instructed His followers to use bread and wine to remember the sacrifice He was going to make when He died on the cross (1Cor. 11: 23-26). Other religious groups wonder why Christians eat a small piece of bread and drink a sip of wine in church services. Sunday after Sunday, every Mass, people partake of Holy Communion. We believe that communion is applied to sharing in the Eucharist by partaking the consecrated bread and wine. This is an action seen as entering into a close relationship with Christ. The bread is Jesus' body and the wine is His blood.

Even the early church celebrated Jesus by taking Communion because it is a celebration. It celebrates the Gospel of our Lord. It's not about the ritual or method, it's not just the bread & wine but it's about listening to Jesus, doing what He says.

In John 14:21 says, "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father and I will love him and disclose myself to him". Communion is important because it is a command to remember what Jesus has done. And even when we sit at the table in our own homes, we are reminded that He is the one who provides all we need. We are nourished by Him, especially with spiritual nourishment, and we need to keep taking new steps with Him for He is also called the Bread of Life. Taking communion does not make you a christian. It doesn't save our souls or get us to heaven. I believe that when we partake of Holy Communion, we must come with thanksgiving, reverence and honesty. If there's something wrong, it is better to deal with it first. It is necessary to check our hearts and relationships with our brothers and sisters. Our Lord Jesus was broken for us so that we can be fixed by Him. Let's be thankful that we are reminded every time we are gathered together and participate in Communion that it is a chance to recognize Jesus. It's a great experience and we are blessed to have a close relationship with the Lord. Thanks be to God!
