“Evil Thing”

Nehemiah 13: 17: “Then I reprimanded the nobles of Judah and said to them, ‘What is this evil thing you are doing, by profaning the Sabbath day?’” Profaning the Sabbath is more than just having a good time on Sunday; to profane the Sabbath means to make it common, like any other day. Jesus Homself broke the letter of the Sabbath occasionally, but He never treated it like any other day. It is a special gift of God, just for man (Mark 2: 27), and to make it common is truly an “evil thing.”
