“By Any Account”

Hebrews 13: 17: “Obey your leaders, and submit to them; for they keep a watch over your souls, as those who will give an account.” Sometimes we excuse ourselves from obedience and submission to our leaders on the grounds that we find them inadequate in some way. It is as if we think that the account they must give is to us. Sorry, no. They are accountable to God alone, and He alone will deal with them for any shortcoming in their leadership skills. We just obey and submit. The issue in Christ's Church is not leadership, but our response to leadership. (Deuteronomy 18: 19)
