“The Gift of Carols”

Psalm 87: 7: “Then those who sing as well as those who play the flutes shall say, ‘All my springs of joy are in you.’” Contrary to some bogus web postings, Christians have been crafting and singing Christmas music since, or even before, Christmas was recognized as a Day and a season, with the evangelical carol form arising some time later, and becoming a popular means of devotional expression in the 17th–20th centuries. A true Christmas Carol will share the “springs of joy” experienced by its author, singer and/or musician over the salvation brought to man via the Bethlehem event. Question: How many true Christmas Carols have you heard (or sung) so far this Christmas? Tomorrow, Sunday, is the last day of the twelve; don’t miss the chance to let loose the springs of joy within you!
