“Center of Attention”

Judges 13: 17: “And Manoah said to the angel of the Lord, ‘What is your name, so that when your words come to pass, we may honor you?’” Notice how, throughout the story of Samson’s nativity, the angel always deals with the unnamed wife, and Manoah keeps trying to insert himself into the action? It wasn’t enough for him that God had oriented his wife, Manoah wanted some attention, too. True obedience (and humility) means taking a back seat sometimes, if that’s what the Lord wants.
