“All Hallows”

Psalm 31: 19, 20: “How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You before the sons of men! You hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the conspiracies of man; You keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues.” Tonight’s psalm is for the Eve of the Feast of All Hallows (All Saints), which secular society has morphed into Hallow’een, an event which bears no resemblance to the original. Traditionally one of the seven highest feasts in the Church, it is a celebration of God’s faithfulness to the saints, and their faithfulness to Him. So while others have tricks and treats to celebrate death, the Church has a joyful commemoration to celebrate life!
