We believe that Jesus died and rose again. We also believe that God will raise to life through Jesus any who have died and bring them together with Him when he comes. (1 Thessalonians 4:14).

Through Jesus’ death, He rendered powerless the devil who had the power of death, that He might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives (Hebrews 2:14-15). That’s what Easter is about, Jesus trampling down death by His own death.

In the creeds, we say we believe in the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Fullness of life for us humans is having a physical body formed by God from dust and having His Spirit breathed into our being. We may have been contaminated by sin and became subject to death. But time will come when Jesus’ Easter victory will have its full effect and we will be a new creation with resurrected bodies and walking in His Spirit of righteousness, justice and peace. But this early, as we wait in joyful hope for it, we strive to live as if it has already come because the power of His resurrection is already at work in us.
