“Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, and the very ends of the earth as Your possession.” (Psalm 2:8)

David prophesies in this Psalm that God would grant Israel's anticipated future Messiah dominion over all the nations of the earth. He and his fellow Jews up until the New Testament times may have had a militaristic idea of how that would come about. But when that Messiah came, He revealed a radically different kingdom, one that subdues enemies not to destroy them but to convert them into friends and include them as citizens.

According to Jesus, it is the Father's will that of all He has given Him, He loses nothing, but raise them up on the last day. That's why He became human to taste death and conquer it on behalf of all men by rising from the dead. Easter is not just a story; it's a reality. An amazing reality through which all nations (that is, Gentiles) are blessed.
