August 15, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

"One sows and another reaps." (John 4:37)

What you sow is what you reap. Everyone knows that. It's the reason some wisely engage in projects for profit and in preparation for the future. But Jesus says in some cases, one sows and another reaps. That will be our church's theme for the coming liturgical year. We would like to challenge ourselves to give and serve and build for the benefit of the next generation.

When we find the joy derived from planting so that someone else can harvest and benefit from it, then we've discovered the true prosperity gospel. Because seeking the good of others always prospers us. If we're ever-blessing, we'll be ever-blessed.
