“Tell me the secret of your great strength and how you can be tied up and subdued.” (Judges 16:6)
Samson fell little by little. Common sense would've told him he should stay away from Delilah because she was bad news. He should've gotten a clue from her nagging and obviously malevolent request. But he was captivated by her charm. She was clearly out to ruin him. Eventually, she did because he compromised with his lust for her.
Sin is our enemy, as typified by Delilah in the story. And sin, when full-grown, brings forth death, the ultimate enemy. That's why we should nip it in the bud and utterly destroy it. Otherwise, it will subtly deceive us all the way to destruction. But uncompromising obedience to God leads to fullness of life.
