August 3, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)

In what is called the Great Commission, Jesus sends His followers into all the world to baptize men in the name of the Godhead. The operative word in the command is baptize, which to a degree has been reduced to a ritual. What the Lord means is immersion not surface conversion.

In the Trinity, we see a community of love. And that's the likeness our Father wants all men to be restored back in. Fullness of life can only be experienced when we participate in such charitable fellowship, where each gives preference to the other and desires and pursues their good. More than just professing to be of a certain religious tribe, being a disciple of Christ is taking on the divine nature of God.
