August 31, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life." (Acts 11:18)

Having been raised with a religious prejudice against Gentiles, the Jewish Christians in Jerusalem confronted Peter for receiving non-Jews as guests into his lodging place and visiting their master, a Roman centurion, in his home. But after hearing what he had to say about God revealing Himself and His plan to him and to Commander Cornelius, they calmed down and knew the heart of their God a little more.

Paul declared that if some do not see certain things the way they should at present, God will eventually make them clear (Philippians 3:15). So let us not be anxious but have patience and confidence in Him, not in our ability to argue and convince. While we do our part, it is His Spirit who gives understanding. And one day, the whole earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Let us pray that we all yield to Him and not delay this process unnecessarily.
