Isaiah 7: 4:“Say to [Ahaz],’Take care, and be calm, have no fear and do not be faint-hearted because of those two stubs of smoldering firebrands, on account of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram, the son of Realiah.’” To a king and his people whose hearts are shaking with fear because of a looming threat of destruction, the Lord sends the message: Make every effort to stay calm and fearless. As we see in the news and even read in the Gospels reports of present and future trials, we must remember these things are not for our destruction. How can we know this? God has given a sign, as we shall see tomorrow.
