December 31 , 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them. (2 Corinthians 5:19)

This famous statement by Paul is a bedrock belief of our church communion. It's even in an originally composed benediction we call the Lake George Blessing. It's a basic truth that many Christians seem to forget. God doesn't count our sins against us! He is not an irritable god who is more concerned about His honor being offended than His children perishing. That doesn't mean He condones sin, but He takes it away because it destroys us. David said how blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity. Because Jesus was born, that is now true of all men.

But not only are we beneficiaries of this blessing, we are also called to be ambassadors entrusted with the ministry of spreading this good news and reconciling people to God by making them aware of it. What great privilege we have been given!
