“Dried-up Joy”

Joel 1: 12:The vine dries up, and the fig tree fails; the pomegranate, the palm also, and the apple tree, all the trees of the field dry up. Indeed, rejoicing dries up from the sons of men.” Does this prophecy reflect your feelings and attitudes today? Sadly, it mirrors the gloomy and doomy mindsets of many. The good news is, for every scripture like this there is an Isaiah 55: 12: “For you will go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands,” or a Habakkuk 3: 17, 18: “Though the fig tree should not blossom, and there be no fruit on the vines, though the yield of the olive should fail, and the fields produce no food, though the flock should be cut off from the fold, and there be no cattle in the stalls, yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” The fields and the trees will make a comeback. And so will the rejoicing of the sons of men.
