Easter Tuesday, April 11: “Resurrection Effects”

Acts 2: 46: “Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart.”

For the earliest Christians and those who followed them, Church was not a solo obligation that one dashed into, completed, and dashed out from again. They were not a bunch of strangers, and that was by design. Regardless of changing times and cultural differences, I can’t imagine them dropping by the local galleria for a quick religious pick-me-up, then going their own way until the next Lord’s Day (or was it the Lord’s half-hour?) The resurrection had made them a communal people.
