Easter Wednesday, April 12: “Resurrection Prophet”

Micah 7: 8: “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy, though I fall I will rise; though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is a light for me.”

We all know that Micah is a prophet of the Nativity (Micah 5: 2); less familiar, perhaps, is this prophecy of the resurrection. He shows Jesus getting right in satan’s face and proclaiming, “Don’t get too happy, devil, He who laughs last, laughs best–and I’ll be laughing all the way out of this dark pit, through the grave, and on to My Father’s place!” And, as David had prophesied, He wouldn’t rise alone, He’d bring friends: all His fellow captives (Psalm 68: 18; Ephesians 4: 8-10). That’s because Jesus’ resurrection is our resurrection!
