February 10, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

Whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. (Romans 14:8)

Think of living or dying not in terms of breathing or not breathing but in terms of fullness of life or the utter lack thereof. With that in mind, realize how that whether we thrive or barely exist, are strong, succeed or fail, we are God's, safe in His arms, and remain the apple of His eye. To Him we stand or fall. And stand we will, because He is able to make us stand, not by overriding our freewill and taking control of our life, but by drawing us to the right way by His longsuffering, infinite goodness and mercy.

Does that mean we can live the way we want, in greed and wanton self-indulgence? Not if we learn from the story of the prodigal son. Not only will we see that such leads to ruin but also that our Heavenly Father's love never gives up.
