February 19, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

For I have been informed about you, my brothers and sisters … that there are quarrels and factions among you. (1 Corinthians 1:11)

Paul is addressing members of the church in Corinth, brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s ironic, nay tragic, that in the very community Jesus gave His life to unite and have peace with each other, there is strife. Over what? Which fan club to join. Let us remember we are followers of Jesus, not of any celebrity pastor. Others who follow Him are our brothers and sisters. And those who do not yet are not any less our siblings. They just need to hear the good news that they are included in God’s family and to be guided home.

This Lenten Season, let us fast from division and be what Jesus made us - one - and demonstrate it so the world may see and believe that He indeed is the Savior who will make our warring cease.
