February 2, 2025 Daily Dose of Discernment

“Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:21)

Jesus is the Messiah who is anointed with the Spirit of God to cause His will to be done on earth as in heaven. But all baptized believers also have the Holy Spirit upon them and share in the ministry of Jesus. They too are called to proclaim the year of the Lord's jubilee, good news to the poor, release to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind and freedom to the oppressed. We proclaim these things from the Scriptures. But once we're done preaching with words and close the book, all eyes will be on us, waiting to see the fruition of what was spoken. May we by our lives prove to be credible and authentic witnesses of the gospel so that it's not just fulfilled in the world's hearing but in their sight as well.
