February 20, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. (1 Corinthians 1:25)

When God in Christ became man, He chose to limit His omnipotence. This is to show that divine powerlessness is stronger than human powerfulness. In the imagery presented in the book of Revelation, Jesus as a meek Lamb defeats the beasts which represent the forces of evil. This way of God teaches us that strength and wisdom as understood by the fallen world are really weakness and foolishness and which are being done away with. As the song says, “The power and pomp of nations shall pass like a dream away.”

One bishop in our church wisely declared that the future belongs to those who are living it in the present. It can’t be any truer. The future is the kingdom of God taking over this world. Those who follow its King’s example of humility will inherit that future earth.
