Friday, April 26: “Earnestly Seeking Maturity”

1 Thessalonians 3: 10: “We night and day keep praying most earnestly that we may see your face, and may complete what is lacking in your faith.”

The book of Acts seems to indicate that St. Paul and his team were only able to spend three weeks in Thessalonica before being driven out of town (Acts 17: 1-10). That’s hardly enough time to share the rudimentary aspects of the faith, much less some of its weightier matters. Not willing to leave the work undone, and and thirsting for them to receive the completion of His instruction and mentoring, he earnestly prayed for such a result. And Acts also shows us that, some years later, the Lord answered those prayers.
