Friday, August 2: “Perpetual Consequences”

Acts 2: 14: “Peter, taking his stand with the eleven, raised his voice and declared to them: ‘Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words.’”

After his recent failures, especially during Holy Week, it would have been easy for Peter to have chosen to find a hole in the ground and lay low. Enough embarrassment for a while! But he chose to get back in the game, take his stand, and proclaim words that three thousand souls were glad to hear (v. 41). The Church today still experiences the glorious consequences of that fateful stand, and it beckons us today to make a similar choice, and a similar stand.
