Friday, August 30: “Blind Guides”

Psalm 22: 8: “Commit yourself to the Lord; let him deliver him; let Him rescue him, because he delights in Him.”

As Jesus was hanging on the cross, the chief priests, scribes, and elders mocked Him by quoting this verse, supposedly disproving His fraudulent Messianic claims. Ironically, it was their own evil which David was prophesying in this verse, while in at least seven other verses this psalm accurately foretells the suffering of the Messiah, all seven of which were fulfilled that day on Calvary. Such mishandling of Scripture is why Jesus often called these men “blind guides.”
