“God Intentions XXVII”

Ezekiel 18: 31, 32: “‘Cast away from you all your transgressions which you have committed and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! For why will you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies,’ declares the Lord God. ‘Therefore, repent and live.’”

God never intended for anyone to die. He doesn’t like when anyone apart from His Covenant does die. His solution is a new heart and a new spirit, aka, being born again. But why in this verse does He instruct the transgressors to make for themselves new hearts and spirits, when in three other places (Psalm 51: 10, Ezekiel 11: 19, and Ezekiel 36: 26) He says He will be the One to make them? The answer is the same as the answer to the mantra ‘Man Makes Himself’, namely, “That’s right, but where does he get the materials?”
