Friday, January 3: “Christmas Proclaims: God Is with Us, to Keep His Promises!”

Genesis 28: 15: “Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the House of Bread; Jacob met the Lord in Bethel, the House of God. Here the Lord repeated His promise to his grandfather and his father, as well as to all who seek Him and call on His Name: He is the God Who keeps His children by keeping His promises to them, and never leaves nor forsakes. Christmas is the fulfillment of God’s promise to mankind (and the serpent) from as far back as Genesis 3: 15. It shows yet again that, in the fullness of time (Galatians 4: 7),  God fulfills His word.
