Friday, June 28: “The Influential Christ”

Romans 5: 17: “If by the transgressions of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who received the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”

One man, Adam, exerted great influence. Because of him, death reigned over all. You must agree, not the best influence. Then Jesus Christ usurped and terminated Adam’s influence, so that grace now reigns (v. 21). Again, one Man, great influence. It is like St. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “As in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15: 22). Whose influence will we follow, and whose will we continue?
