Friday, May 24: “Cared for in the Midst of Suffering”

Psalm 22: 24: “He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from him; but when He cried to Him for help, He heard.”

It is hard to imagine someone suffering more than the writer of this psalm. But while David was prone to overstated imagery, and the psalm speaks ultimately of Christ on the cross, his point that God sees and hears the afflicted yet remains. Whatever your affliction, He knows and cares (1 Peter 5: 7).
