Friday, May 31: “The Holy Trinity: Swift to the Call”
Psalm 147: 15: “He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.”
While this verse is primarily a metaphorical expression of God’s quick response, there was one occasion when His Word literally ran quickly. As that Word was still in the womb of Mary, she “went in a hurry” to visit her cousin Elizabeth (Luke 1: 39). Yes, it may be stretching the point, but it is a nice tie-in to today’s Feast of the Visitation. Probably more important is Mary’s Magnificat, which she spoke at this time. But still, it’s good to know that the Word runs swiftly when necessary.
