Friday, October 18: “He Has Counseled You”

Psalm 16: 7: “I will bless the Lord Who has counseled me; indeed, my mind instructs me in the night.”

Sometimes we toss and turn at night, and we don’t know why. There was no late-night mug of coffee or mind-overstimulating scrollfest. So we pop a sleeping pill, without realizing it is the Lord keeping us awake, because He wants to give us some counsel. Then we wake up the next morning, unrefreshed and uncounseled. The next time that happens to you, take your cue from the boy Samuel: “Speak, for Your servant is listening.” (1 Samuel 3: 10)
