Friday, October 27: “Fret Not over the Lack”
1 Corinthians 16: 7: “I rejoice over the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have supplied what was lacking on your part.”
Corinth was probably the richest Church in all of Achaia, perhaps in all of Christandom, in gifts both material and spiritual, and they enjoyed the ministry of the free Paul longer than any other. Yet they were irresponsible in their care of him. Paul never complained about this, because he knew how to have abundance and suffer need, and also knew God would eventually supply (Philippians 4: 12, 19); if not through the Corinthians, through another, even less affluent Church. The Lord provides; how is up to Him.
