Psalm 51: 7:“Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” Like Lent, Advent is a season to examine our lives and come to God in confession and repentance of any ungodliness found there. After all, that’s how John the Baptist prepared the people for Christ’s coming. Along with Isaiah, the great Advent prophet (Isaiah 1: 18), David here promises us a white Christmas, whatever the weather, when we are washed and made clean by God.
