Philippians 2: 3b, 4:“Let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” This week’s MDR begins and ends with the same message: The Law of Christ. As we approach a new Christian year this should be our focus; not the vaccine, or the economy, or the next typhoon. These things will be there, but the way to handle them will be to look out for each other, which, as the next verse tells us, was the attitude of Christ. The Royal Law, the Law of Love, the Law of Liberty, the Law of Christ, are all different names for the same thing: what is sometimes called the Golden Rule, the “Do unto others” Jesus gave in the Sermon on the Mount. It will be the future; it can and should be your present.
