January 13, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

“Zeal for Your house has eaten me up.” (John 2:17)

I have talked to pastors of different churches from different countries and we have the same observation. That after the pandemic, many who used to come to church regularly no longer do as often as before. This is not a complaint; this is a reality I lift up to God every day for Him to reverse. Oh that believers would have the same passion Jesus has for God's house! The Psalmist does. He says he yearns for His dwelling places; that a day in His courts is better than a thousand outside and he would rather stand at the threshold of His house than dwell in the tents of wickedness. I pray the same fervor would consume all who profess to love the Lord, and show it not just in their attendance at His worship, but in active participation in the work of His church and His kingdom. Lord, hear our prayer.
