"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me.” (John 5:39)

The Jews in Judea were in a sorry state. They knew the scriptures and searched them diligently in their zeal for God and His kingdom, but they didn't recognize the Word of God. That's right, we can read the Bible and miss the Word of God. Because the Word of God is a Person, not a book. The book points us to Him so we may know Him and have fullness of life. Knowing Him in this sense means growing in a relationship with Him, and through Him with His Father who sent Him.

The growth process takes our whole lifetime. It involves yielding our will to God's will and trusting Him with all our heart and not leaning on our own understanding. We will accomplish our goal by His grace and with a little help from our brothers and sisters in His Church.
