“It is I; do not be afraid.” (John 6:20)

God can sometimes be in the gentle wind or a still, small voice. But sometimes “fire goes before Him, and it is very tempestuous around Him.” At this point in a still-fallen world, peace and quiet doesn’t necessarily accompany His presence. The good news is that even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we have His grace to fear no evil.

When faced with adversity or going through turmoil, let us not be deceived into thinking that God is absent or far away. He is with us even when we find ourselves on a raging sea. Let us hear the same voice that encouraged the disciples to not be afraid because He is right in the storm with us, inviting us to walk on the water with Him.
