July 10, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it. (Romans 9:16)

Godliness is profitable for all things in the present life and the life to come. This is why God calls us to live godly lives; He wants our good. But His kindness is unmerited. It is not the result of our effort. Think of it as seed He freely gives and which we don't have an ability to obtain on our own. All we can do is thank Him for it and sow it. When we do, it prospers us.

So let us remember to express our genuine gratitude to God who freely lavishes us with His blessings, but also use them for our benefit.
