July 9, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created. (Romans 8:38-39)

The message of the angels to the shepherds was good news of great joy for all people because Jesus, the savior of the whole world, had just been born (Luke 2:10-11). This is why they constantly told people not to be afraid.

The all-inclusive salvation of all men by Jesus is from sin and death which deceive us into thinking we are alienated from God. This causes us to forfeit our fellowship with Him and its benefits. But the truth is, where sin abounds, grace abounds even more. That means nothing can put anyone beyond the reach of our Lord's saving embrace, not even the ultimate result of sin which is death. We don't have to be slaves to the fear of death and the superstition of an eternity of torture in the hands of an angry God afterward. He's not angry; He's loving. And nothing can separate us from that love - not death or life, not angels or demons, not present or future things, not created or imagined things. Nothing.
