June 17, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established. (Romans 1: 11)

To minister means to meet a need. Saint Paul obviously understands this as expressed in his statement above. He is consumed with a desire to strengthen his brothers rather than what he can get from them.

We should have the same selfless attitude. If we do, we ourselves will be encouraged by the faith of those we minister to. Like Jesus said, as we give, to the same extent, we shall receive, but only if, like Him, our motivation is the good of another. Because godliness is indeed great gain if accompanied by contentment and love from a pure heart.
