Sadly, the so-called principle that you're not supposed to touch God's anointed has been used as a scare tactic to manipulate people. Just because someone is a church leader doesn't make them more special in the eyes of God. He doesn't favor one person over another. So leaders should never pull rank. On the one hand.
On the other hand, that doesn't mean we disrespect our spiritual shepherds. If we do, we disrespect God who chose them. If we are true Christians, shouldn't we love them and give them double honor, not because of merit but out of our generosity?
