June 23, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

“Let us go over to the other side.” (Mark 4:35)

Jesus is God. So His word accomplishes its purpose and His promises are always fulfilled. When He told His disciples that they would cross the Sea of Galilee and go over to the other side to Capernaum, He intended for it to happen, knowing they would have to face a violent storm on the way.

The moral of the story is that God’s will for us, which is for our good, involves challenges. When we face them, sometimes it seems He is sleeping and doesn’t care that we are “sinking.” We should always remember that He is with us in the boat. If it sinks, He goes down with us. If the waves batter us, He gets battered as well. So let us have faith and take comfort in the truth that He is on the journey with us. All the way. And with Him, we will get us to the other side come hell or high water.
