June 28, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him. (Matthew 20:33)

Two blind men in Jericho beseeched Jesus to restore their sight. Moved with compassion, Jesus responded and they were healed and became His followers.

When Jesus sent His disciples on a mission, He told them to heal the sick and proclaim the good news. What really heals the sick? Sheer supernatural ability or divine love which is His nature? I believe it's the latter. It is what healed the sick, cast out demons and fed the multitude two thousand years ago. And it is what will meet whatever need we or our neighbors have today. Because that love never runs out of power. It is what Jesus always has in His heart and wants us to have in ours so we can continue His ministry of healing and drawing people to Him.
