June 7, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

And Jesus said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. (Matthew 14:28-29)

Let's give Peter some credit. He did walk on water. But only as long as his eyes were fixed on Jesus. Which is the whole point of the story. We can overcome life's storms if we look to Him who strengthens us and through Whom we can do all things. But if we allow ourselves to be intimidated and get distracted by them, only then can they drown us. But even so, we can call on Him and He will deliver us from the cords of death that encompass us and the torrents of ungodliness which terrifies us.

What a beautiful Savior we have! Who can separate us from His love?
