“How can Satan cast out Satan?”(Mark 3:23)

Jesus asks this question to defend Himself from the accusation that He casts out demons by the ruler of demons. But He is also saying that the way to conquer evil is not by playing their game. He teaches us to love our enemies, do good to those who hate us, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who mistreat us. If we do, we display the divine nature of our Heavenly Father who causes the sun to shine and the rain to fall on the righteous and the unrighteous alike, and we show ourselves to be His sons.

There’s nothing wrong with praying and giving commands to spirits when doing exorcism, but what will overcome evil is the power of indiscriminate kindness, not just words and formulas.
