March 14, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. (1 Corinthians 12:24-26)

God has so composed the human body, a metaphor for His Church, such that there is no division in it, but that the members have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, the others suffer with it. If one member is honored, the rest rejoice with it.

This begs the question: If because of envy, hatred or any other hostile sentiment we rejoice over our brother who weeps instead of weeping with them, and we weep because our brother is honored instead of rejoicing with them, are we really members of Christ's body? We should examine ourselves if we are in the faith.
