Love never fails. Prophecies will eventually cease, tongues will become silent, and knowledge will pass away. (1 Corinthians 13:8)

While Saint Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, says he doesn't want Christians to be ignorant of spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1), He emphasizes that they are not what we should major in. While we are instructed to earnestly desire them, it is love that we should pursue first and foremost (1 Corinthians 14:1). Sometimes we get distracted and value knowledge and other things more thinking they amount to godliness. While wisdom is one of God's attributes, love is His one attribute which all others stem from. That's why the Bible defines Him as love.

If we strive to be conformed back to His image and likeness, love should be our starting point. That is why Jesus summed up the whole law into two main things, both of which are about love - love of God and love of neighbor. Because many things don't last, but love never fails.
