March 19, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

When you assemble, each of you should bring a psalm, lesson, or revelation, or speak in a tongue, or offer an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. (1 Corinthians 14:26)

The godly instruction given to us for when we gather together as God's people is to be prepared to give something according to our ability using the spiritual gifts we have received. Each member of the Body of Christ is to contribute something for the common good rather than our own.

What a stark difference from the attitude being encouraged by those who invite people to come to church and be blessed. We will certainly be blessed if we do come because we will meet God who is ever-blessing. But our joy will be full if our intention is to give rather than to receive.
