March 26, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

We were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. (2 Corinthians 1:8-9)

Jesus gave us a heads up; in the world, we will have tribulation. When we do, sometimes we tend to lose our bearings. Like Paul, we should stop relying on ourselves and our own abilities and begin to trust God alone.

Thank God the world has become better because the gospel has advanced. Persecutions and injustice may still happen but no longer to the same extent as our fathers experienced. We generally have not suffered to the point of shedding blood. But however much our trials, we should learn to always look to God for strength. He is after all our Savior who delivers us from the snare of the trapper and the deadly pestilence. Besides do we have any other choice?
