“Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.” (John 13:36)

Jesus tells Peter here He is going somewhere he couldn’t come, but that he would follow later. He was talking about His passion, death and resurrection. This is what this week and the first day of next week is about - Jesus, the firstborn of many brethren, and we following Him in His death so we can also be raised to new life. He wasn’t simply resuscitated to die again sometime; He went through death and to the other side of it.

Therefore, “If we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that He, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once; but the life He lives, He lives to God. So consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ. So do not let sin be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace. (Romans 6:8-11, 14)
