Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb. (Matthew 27:59-60)
Today, Holy Saturday, is the intermediate period between the death of Jesus and His resurrection. He descended to the realm of the dead at this time. When confronted by the presence of the Lord of life, death could not help being destroyed. Jesus trampled down death by His own death and gave life to those in the tomb. By dealing death a fatal blow, He eliminated the ultimate opposition to the fullness of human life. If He could do that, rescue us from all other things and provide for us the abundant life His Father has intended for us from the beginning. He is able; more than able. And He is willing. The extent He went to on Good Friday is more than enough evidence of that willingness. Let this hope inspire you to live out the victory of Easter.
